Good Afternoon,
We are happy to report that there were no new Covid cases in the middle school this week.
Promotion: We are working on plans for grade 8 promotion. Our preliminary plans are dependent on weather and local Covid rates. In each scenario, each child may have two guests at promotion. If it’s sunny, we plan to hold promotion outside and all cohorts can attend at the same time, per the students request. If it rains, we will be able to hold promotion under a tent and have a few cohorts be promoted at a time. If there are storms, we will have to do promotion in the auditorium, but this will limit us to one cohort at a time. In all cases we will have social distancing, cohorting, and everyone will wear masks. Remote learners will be welcome to participate. Please note that plans can be changed at any time if Covid rates increase.
Other End of Year Activities: Each grade level is planning end of year activities for students. Please note that all plans are contingent on continued low numbers of Covid cases. All Covid protocols will remain in place during the activities. The PTO is planning a fun day for grade 8 students including music, fun activities, and time for the groups to socialize. The OSMS PTO is also financially supporting activities for the other grades. Teachers are working on plans for the grades 5-7 students. We are also planning a Step-Up-Day. This will be an opportunity for students to meet their teachers for next school year for grades 5-7.
Screener: Next week, we will be administering the second SABERS universal screener to all students as we did earlier in the school year. Please contact your child’s school counselor if you have any questions.

Nos complace informar que no hubo nuevos casos de Covid en la escuela secundaria esta semana.
Promoción: Estamos trabajando en planes para la promoción de octavo grado. Nuestros planes preliminares dependen del clima y las tarifas locales de Covid. En cada escenario, cada niño puede tener dos invitados en la promoción. Si hace sol, planeamos realizar la promoción al aire libre y todas las cohortes pueden asistir al mismo tiempo, según lo soliciten los estudiantes. Si llueve, podremos realizar la promoción debajo de una carpa y hacer que se promuevan algunas cohortes a la vez. Si hay tormentas, tendremos que hacer promoción en el auditorio, pero esto nos limitará a una cohorte a la vez. En todos los casos tendremos distanciamiento social, cohorte y todos llevarán máscaras. Los estudiantes remotos serán bienvenidos a participar. Tenga en cuenta que los planes se pueden cambiar en cualquier momento si aumentan las tarifas de Covid.
Otras actividades de fin de año: Cada nivel de grado está planificando actividades de fin de año para los estudiantes. Tenga en cuenta que todos los planes están supeditados a un número reducido continuo de casos de Covid. Todos los protocolos de Covid permanecerán vigentes durante las actividades. El PTO está planeando un día divertido para los estudiantes de octavo grado que incluye música, actividades divertidas y tiempo para que los grupos socialicen.
