We would like to introduce our new staff to you one person at a time over the next few weeks. Our first is our new grade 7 science teacher, Laura Barbato.
This is Laura's 12th year teaching. She went to high school in Kentucky where she played soccer, was on the swim team, and marched with the band (clarinet). After high school, she attended the University of Kentucky for her Bachelor’s degree in Special Education and later achieved her Masters degree online from Grand Canyon University on how to effectively teach technology. After her first degree, she moved to Tennessee and taught 6th grade. Then she made the most crazy (but best) decision to move to Hawaii to teach. She was there for almost 10 years before she moved back to the East Coast with her husband, Ian, and 4 year old son, Oliver. After working in New London for two years, she is happy to say she is a Ram with Old Saybrook! She loves to go to the beach, visit with family, and eat yummy food!
