As an "entry event" into the grade 6 ancient Mesopotamia unit, students received a copy of cuneiform (the world's first writing system, invented by the people of ancient Mesopotamia), some words and phrases to decipher, then "wrote" their names in cuneiform on a clay tablet that they made (as the people of ancient Mesopotamia may have done).
