Parents/Guardians,
We were notified five minutes ago that there is a gas main break near Route 1, which has resulted in a Code Green Evacuation at Old Saybrook High School. All our students and staff are safe and are being transported to Old Saybrook Middle School until the area is cleared by local authorities and deemed safe. We have been in contact with local law enforcement, and all safety protocols are being closely adhered to and followed.
We will send an update regarding the remainder of the day as soon as possible.

Our 5th Graders are preparing for tomorrow's Main Street Math Expo! The big event begins at 8:00AM, and our student-created businesses will line our virtual Main Street across the entire Middle School!

OSMS band studnets played as the Special Olympics touch was run up Main Street today. Many classes were able to come cheer on the group!

We were excited to celebrate our two grade 8 Connecticut Boards of Education (CABE) award winners. Dominic Rago is the type of student who always goes above and beyond. Whether on the ice as a hockey player or in the classroom, Dom brings a meticulous effort to all he does. He realizes that the key to success is self-motivation. Madeline Pumerantz’s 8th grade year has served as a testament to her hard work and dedication. She has focused on bettering herself as a student and an athlete. Her academic work has been outstanding, and she has taken on numerous leadership roles–including being an essential member of the OSMS Leadership Council. We are proud of them both.

We are so proud to recognize our two Connecticut Association of Schools Scholar Leaders. Mia Hanover and Noah Nygard were celebrated Monday night at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington with teachers, principals and families. They are both positive, kind, hard-working students! It was a wonderful evening.

Earlier today, renowned author Lynn Katz shared the ten essential strategies for generating ideas to aid in the writing process with our Middle School students.
A big thank you to Ms. Katz for sharing her knowledge and expertise with our students.
